The Apple iPod Touch is one of the most beloved products in the Apple line. So just imagine how people went gaga when it was announced that the 5th generation of the venerable iTouch is going to come out in 2012. In fact, there is an explosion of iPod Touch 5G rumors online almost as soon as the release was announced. It is going to be interesting, or at the very least intriguing, to check out what these rumors are. Here are just some of them.

The first set of iPod Touch 5th Generation rumors is with regards to its signature touch screen. There have been some Apple prototypes that have been spied to be larger than even the iPhone 4. What type of product is this is yet to be settled, though. It could either mean a prototype of the soon to come iPhone 5, or perhaps it could be the iTouch. Nothing has been said about it, and the public might not know anything until the time that it is officially released.

Here is another of those screen-related iPod Touch 5th generation rumors. With the success of the Nintendo 3DS in the market, could we see Apple going ahead with a glasses-free 3D screen? That remains to be seen, but it would be intriguing if Apple is indeed serious in integrating this feature into the iPod touch as perhaps a “test mule” to eventual application of glassless 3D for both the iPhone and the iPad.

And then there is a rumor wherein the iTouch 5G would be cancelled in favor of developing a scaled down version of the iPad. While Apple has shut down this rumor, it would be interesting to see what they would do with a smaller iPad.
